*Not directed by Herzog, I know, but he is clearly the velocity of these films. Burden of Dreams, while pretty great, is sullied by Les Blank's socializing and navel gazing, but Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe is a brilliant film in spite of both its slight subject matter and slim runtime and Blank's overly jocular demeanor and socially heavy hand. Herzog shines through with one of the great manifestos - kin with Deleuze and Bergson - on the image; Herzog here is pure affect - he's not a man, he's a force.
